Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm; minimum one weekend of call per month with additional weeknight call schedule - Patient Population Focus:
Inpatient, Outpatient, Operating Room/First Assist, Procedural Unit - Patient Population Age Range:
18 years - death
Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant, or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN.
- Physician Assistant or APRN License Type / Certification:
- AGPNP/ANP (Adult Gerontology Primary Care NP or Adult NP):
Adult patients (18 years to death), stable chronic disease state management or primary care setting - FNP (Family NP): (birth to death) Stable chronic disease state management, primary care across the lifespan
- APRN must have Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) Certification
- AGPNP/ANP (Adult Gerontology Primary Care NP or Adult NP):
- Experience:
Minimum of 1 year experience as a PA, FNP or ANP. New Graduates considered on a case-by-case basis. FNP and ANP must have RNFA certification prior to start date.
Training: Physician Assistant or APRN License Type/Certification:

- AGACNP/ACNP (Adult Gerontology Acute Care NP/Acute Care Nurse Practitioner):
Adult patients (13 years to death), acutely ill or injured, potentially unstable, or technologically dependent (vents, drips, monitors, etc.) - APRN must have RNFA Certification
- Experience:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in adult vascular or cardiac surgery as a PA, AGACNP or ACNP or sufficient training/rotations as a new graduate.
Degree of Supervision:
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant will be assigned a Primary Supervising/Collaborating Physician employed by MUSC and will report directly to this physician.
All certifications must be current and complete prior to start date:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- DHEC and DEA license applications
Provides direct care to inpatient, ED consults, and outpatient clinic patients through the following activities:
- Takes comprehensive history and performs physical examinations
- Evaluates and treats on the basis of history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice agreement or scope of practice guideline
- Performs therapeutic procedures in accordance with procedural privileges, skill and proficiency as approved by the Clinical Division Chief:
- First OR Assist
- Carotid endarterectomies and TCAR
- AAA stent graft repair, open AAA repair; aortic emergencies
- Bypasses
- AV fistula or shunt creations and elevation procedures
- Below and above knee amputations
- Lower extremity endarterectomies/thrombectomies
- First rib resections
- Venous procedures in the office
