Location: Columbia
Responsibilities
- Provides nursing assessments, treatments, medication, and medical care to all students as needed for routine and acute visits.
- Maintains satisfactory medical records by recording and reporting student symptoms, reactions, and progress through analysis of student records.
- Reports pertinent medical information regarding students to the school physician and/or Nursing Administrator.
- Dispenses medication and other treatments necessary, including arranging appointments and follow-up visits with the school’s Medical Director and/or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
- Prepares medications and paperwork for field trips and delegates the administration when appropriate and as allowed by the state law to an approved Unlicensed Assistive Personnel.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree required).
- Must have current SC RN Licensure issued by the State Board of Nursing and three years of full-time professional nursing experience.
- Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of nursing; the ability to supervise and delegate work to subordinates; the ability to follow detailed instructions of a technical nature; the ability to prepare and present educational programs to non-medical and medical personnel; and the ability to make decisions and perform work independently.
- Must also have basic computer literacy skills.
- Requires considerable knowledge of nursing principles and practices in accordance with accepted and prevailing nursing standards in the industry; must be able to practice in accordance with safety standards for the professional nursing industry.
- This position may require communication modalities dependent upon employment placement.
- If selected for an interview you must provide verification of your highest level of education (e.g., copy of BA Degree, high school diploma, college transcripts) and if applicable licensure/certification (e.g., nursing licensure, teacher licensure, bus driver certification).
- This position serves our Residential students who come in on Tuesday and depart on Friday.
