OverviewThe Registered Nurse (RN) provides safe, patient-centered care utilizing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in a fast‑paced Emergency Department (ED). Responsible for direct patient care, rapid assessment, triage, emergency response, and critical clinical decision‑making.
Responsibilities- Deliver direct patient care in the Emergency Department (ED).
- Perform rapid assessment, triage, and prioritization of care.
- Respond to acute changes, trauma, and life‑threatening conditions.
- Interpret labs, diagnostics, and patient symptoms.
- Communicate patient status with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and emergency treatments.
- Educate patients and families on care and discharge instructions.
- Ensure compliance with EMTALA, HIPAA, and patient safety standards.
- Report suspected abuse/neglect per regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation.
- Current and valid state RN license.
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
- Current ACLS certificate within 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
- Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC within 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
- Basic Arrhythmia interpretation within 30 days of hire.
- Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; ER setting preferred.
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- For Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current.
- For EDAP certified facilities:
Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire. - Non‑OB facilities: NRP certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current.
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 12 months of hire required.
Full Time, Shift: Nights.
