Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Bridgton Hospital, Bridgton, ME 04009

Full-time | Nights | 7p–7a | 12‑Hour Shifts

Bonus: $15,000 Sign‑On Bonus available for qualified candidates (eligibility and payout terms apply). Details discussed during interview process.

Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides safe, patient-centered care utilizing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in a fast‑paced Emergency Department (ED). Responsible for direct patient care, rapid assessment, triage, emergency response, and critical clinical decision‑making.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct patient care in the Emergency Department (ED).
  • Perform rapid assessment, triage, and prioritization of care.
  • Respond to acute changes, trauma, and life‑threatening conditions.
  • Interpret labs, diagnostics, and patient symptoms.
  • Communicate patient status with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Administer medications, IV therapy, and emergency treatments.
  • Educate patients and families on care and discharge instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with EMTALA, HIPAA, and patient safety standards.
  • Report suspected abuse/neglect per regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation.
Qualifications
  • Current and valid state RN license.
  • Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current ACLS certificate within 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC within 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Basic Arrhythmia interpretation within 30 days of hire.
  • Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; ER setting preferred.
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Facility Specific Requirements
  • For Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current.
  • For EDAP certified facilities:
    Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.
  • Non‑OB facilities: NRP certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 12 months of hire required.
