Job Description
Licensed Practical Nurse (MCP) – MUSC Health, Columbia, SC. Contingent/Contractor, 40 scheduled hours per week, hourly pay. Provides patient/family centered care as a partner and adviser, supports patients and families to manage their health care in alignment with culture, values, health goals, and treatment preferences. Applies clinical judgment to expedite appropriate care, assists with data collection, care planning, and evaluation of outcomes within the LPN scope of practice.
Documents all patient care in the medical record and performs telephone and in-person screenings as assigned.
- Provide patient/family centered care, support patients and families to manage their health care, respecting culture, values, needs, goals and treatment preferences.
- Apply critical reasoning and clinical judgment to expedite appropriate care, especially for complex or potentially life-threatening conditions.
- Assist medical staff with preparation, examination, and procedures; interview/screen patients, collect personal data and chief complaint, document records and vital signs.
- Perform telephone and in-person screenings; participate in recording and reporting responsibilities; document findings relevant to health care status or plan of care.
- Prioritize and document patient calls regarding medications and medical conditions; review with provider for orders or changes.
- Clean and stock examination rooms and supply areas; document all patient care delivered in the medical record per policy.
- Graduation from an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program and licensure as an LPN in South Carolina or a compact state.
- One year of LPN experience preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required (AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider).
