This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Coastal Empire Community Mental Health Center (CEMHC), 1050 Ribaut Road, Beaufort, SC 29902. Position is posted for Beaufort clinic location but may be open to negotiate alternate location:
Walterboro, Ridgeland, Hampton, Beaufort or Hilton Head. Under limited supervision, you will provide psychiatric services to persons of all ages served by Coastal Empire Community Mental Health Center (CEMHC). You will conduct interviews, examinations, diagnosis, and treatment of mental disorders; perform professional duties requiring analysis of a broad spectrum of problems and the planning of various interrelated activities within the facility;
provide consultations to other clinical professional staff members; assist with staff training, and act as a community liaison.
Responsibilities for the Nurse Practitioner:
- Provide individualized goal directed interventions that are safe and effective to clients of all ages (as credentialed) and clinical presentations utilizing nursing practice standards and in collaboration with members of the health care team to achieve identified outcomes. Maintain efficient and accurate records of services provided to meet standard guidelines set by the medical staff, including timely review of laboratory results.
Provide comprehensive psychiatric, psychopharmacological and risk assessment / management for clients of all ages (in accordance to educational credentials) and all clinical presentations across the continuum. - Collaborate with physician supervisor to establish standard of care outcomes.
- Meet with treatment team and peers regularly as required to provide guidance of treatment planning. Review and sign treatment plans. Provide administrative input to ensure provision of quality care and report in a timely manner.
- Act in a manner that complies with BHDD compliance plan and all agency policies and procedures. Must maintain regulatory requirements for licensure and complete required trainings and compliance documentation at all times.

Additional Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing at the master's level or doctoral level acceptable to the Board to include clinical experience.
- Graduated from an accredited school of nursing with clinical experience.
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse and hold official recognition as Nurse Practitioner by the South Carolina Board of Nursing.
- Practicing in the extended role with prescriptive authority in the State of South Carolina.
- Have advanced experience/knowledge of psychiatric illness/symptoms and psychotropic medications.
- A nursing license through the SC Board of Nursing must be obtained no later than 30 days of initial hire date.
- The employee is required to have a serviceable personal vehicle and a valid SC driver's license.
- PMHNP training program completed. For other APRN or PA degree without PMHNP training program, may consider 2+ years experience with psychiatric patients to replace PMHNP credential.
Additional Comments:
- Must be licensed as a registered nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina.
- Recognized as a Nurse Practitioner by the State Board of Nursing for SC Certified by a nationally recognized nursing organization which certifies nurses practicing in the extended role.
- Position may require travel and/or telehealth services to all CECMHC clinic locations as directed by Chief of Psychiatric Services.
