American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an IMC/IICU position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-recognized teaching hospital in South Carolina, requiring critical care experience and Epic proficiency.
Requirements- Active SC or compact (multistate) RN license — no pending licenses accepted
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 completed travel assignment
- Previous IICU or ICU experience with a patient acuity of at least 1:3 required; progressive care settings (PCU, DOU, IMC, Stepdown) may be considered
- Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring
- Ventilator management experience required
- Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips required
- Minimum 1 year of Epic EMR experience required
- Must reside more than 100 miles from all Prisma Health facilities to be eligible; as a night shift traveler in a progressive care specialty, candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the contracted campus
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Valid driver's license and Social Security Number required for consideration
- Intermediate Care / Intermediate ICU (IICU) unit within a 641-bed, Magnet-recognized regional community teaching medical center in Columbia, SC
- Level I Adult and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center — the only such designation in the Midlands region
- Adult patient population including trauma, medical, surgical, and neurology cases
- Patients require monitoring or interventions every 1–2 hours; unit receives direct admissions, ICU transfers, and Rapid Response Team escalations
- Patient ratio of 1:3
- Specialized equipment on unit includes Hercules patient re-positioners, ceiling lifts, and Airtaps
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
- Must be available to work 2 of 3 holidays:
Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year s Day - Charting via Epic EMR (1 year of experience required)
- Floating to other units or campuses is required based on census needs; float assignments limited to areas where documented competencies have been established
- Option for a 13- or 26-week contract
- First-time travelers are considered with a minimum of 3 years of specialty experience and critical care background
- Preferred skills include craniotomy care, CVA management, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, ortho trauma, and insulin drip titration
- Pre-assignment testing and online modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials, which are typically provided within 24 hours of contract signing
- Modules are completed prior to the assignment start date and are renewed annually
- Orientation is held every Monday
- Travelers who have completed 3 consecutive 13-week contracts (39 weeks) must either begin converting to employee status or take a minimum 6-month break before returning as a traveler
- All time-off requests must be submitted at the time of consideration and are subject to facility approval
