As the Assistant Director of Nursing, you will work closely with the Director of Nursing to ensure the highest standards of clinical care and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the DON in planning, developing, and supervising nursing staff activities
- Assist with the development and implementation of nursing services, objectives, policies, and procedures
- Partner with the DON to recruit, hire, orient, and train nursing staff
- Assist with employee evaluations, coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions
- Serve as a backup to the DON and provide nursing leadership as needed
- Provide direct resident care when necessary
- Oversee daily clinical operations, conduct rounds, and monitor resident conditions
- Ensure resident safety and promote dignity, respect, and quality of life
- Serve as a liaison between residents, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members
- Attend and lead staff meetings in the DON's absence
- Provide reports and recommendations regarding nursing operations
- Assist in designing, implementing, and evaluating nursing systems that support quality care and resident rights
- Support staff education and ongoing in-service training programs
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding residents and employees
- Stay informed of regulatory changes and communicate updates appropriately
- Assist with the overall supervision and management of nursing staff
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Must remain in good standing with the State Board of Nursing
- 3-5 years of nurse management experience, preferably in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience with regulatory compliance and survey readiness
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with Point Click Care (PCC) preferred
- Ability to interpret regulations, policies, and clinical procedures
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, and read regularly throughout the workday
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Frequent use of office equipment including computers, phones, copiers, scanners, and fax machines
- Occasional travel may be required
Define the rolls and responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON). Assists the Director of Nursing in directing activities of licensed and non-licensed personnel whom provide health care and nursing services to residents on a 24-hour, 7day per week basis.
Essential Duties- Assists the DON in planning, developing and supervising the activities of the nursing staff.
- Assists in the development and implementation of nursing services, objectives, policies and procedures.
- Works with the DON to recruit, hire and train nursing staff.
- Assists DON with employee appraisals, and resolving problems including disciplinary action.
- Acts as the back-up for the DON, RN and LVN staff.
- May be required to provide direct resident care as needed.
- Oversees clinical operations, including making daily rounds and monitoring resident conditions.
- Responsible for ensuring resident safety, and ensuring residents are treated with the utmost respect.
- Liaison between the residents, family members and the physicians.
- Attends staff meetings and conducts staff meeting if the DON is unavailable.
- Provides reports and recommendations to the DON concerning the operation of nursing services
- Assists the DON in the design, implementation and evaluation of nursing systems that ensure consistent delivery of care and maintains and promotes resident rights.
- Assists DON with conducting ongoing in-services for the nursing staff Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the position regarding residents and employees.
