Job Summary

Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – full‑time support to the Vascular & Interventional Radiology (VIR) Department in the hospital and clinic for Tidelands Health. The APP will serve as a dedicated health‑care professional, enhancing continuity of care for adult patients and participating in all patient care and initiatives to improve patient flow and revenue streams.

Hourly, Salary – Health‑33 Pay Grade; 40 scheduled weekly hours.

Work Shift:

Monday–Friday, 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.

• Training: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and current license or eligibility for licensure; or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program and current (or eligible) APRN license.
• APRN License Types:
  FNP (Family NP) – birth to death, stable chronic disease management, primary care across the lifespan.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year with adult patients and minimum 1 year post‑training procedural/critical care experience.

• Training: Physician Assistant or FNP.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year with adult patients and 1 year post‑training procedural/critical care experience.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant will be assigned a Primary Supervising/Collaborating Physician employed by MUSC and will report directly to that physician.

• Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
• If applicable, DHEC and DEA license applications must be started prior to the first day.

• Takes comprehensive history and performs physical examinations.
• Evaluates and treats patients based on history, examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice agreement or scope of practice guideline.
• Provides care in the outpatient VIR clinic and assists or performs procedures in the VIR vein clinic, including:
  • Radio frequency ablation
  • Venaseal chemical ablation
  • Varithena chemical ablation
  • Sclerotherapy
  • Ambulatory phlebectomy
• Possibility of performing ultrasound‑guided therapeutic procedures as approved by the Clinical Division Chief, such as:
  • Thoracentesis
  • Paracentesis
  • Lymph node biopsy
  • Liver biopsy
  • Thyroid biopsy
  • Chest tube placement
  • Midline placement
  • Joint aspirations
  • Drain placement in fluid collections
  • Pleur‑x catheter placement
• Examines and writes orders as directed for admissions in collaboration with the supervising physician.
• Possibility of performing fluoroscopic‑guided therapeutic and diagnostic procedures such as:
  • PICC line placement/exchange
  • Dialysis catheter placement/exchange
  • Port placement
  • Routine nephrostomy tube exchange
  • Joint injections
  • Port study
  • Upper extremity venogram for dialysis access planning
  • Lumbar puncture
  • Dialysis access declots
  • Arthrograms/myelograms
  • Diagnostic fluoroscopic studies including:
    Barium swallows, Retrograde urologic interventions, Feeding tube placement, Upper GI, Barium Enema, Small bowel follow through, HSG
• Initiates referrals to other health‑care providers and/or consults with attending or collaborating physicians.
• Documents and bills for direct care provided.
• Utilizes current research and evidence‑based decision‑making in all clinical practice.
• Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.
• Participates in and supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization.
• Demonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education.
• Potential to precept students enrolled as advanced practice provider students and facilitate learning of new team members.
• Maintains all required licenses, certifications, CNEs/CMEs, and other professional credentials in accordance with applicable policies and state law.
