ShareSTAFF is hiring Registered Nurses (RNs) for ongoing corrections healthcare assignments at a state correctional facility in Columbia, SC. In this role, you deliver direct nursing care to an incarcerated adult patient population, working under the direction of the Health Care Authority (HCA) and Head Nurse. Daily scope includes sick-call screenings, medication administration, emergency response, chronic disease clinic support, and patient education within a structured correctional healthcare environment.
This is a local contract opportunity with 13-week assignments and extension opportunities, and we maintain an ongoing pipeline of current and upcoming openings in the Columbia/Midlands area (Columbia, Kershaw, and Rembert) and statewide, including the Upstate (Greenwood, Pelzer, Enoree, Trenton, and McCormick), the Pee Dee (Bennettsville, Bishopville, and Turbeville), and the Low country (Fairfax, Ridgeville, and Ridgeland). Openings vary by location and are not all available at the same time.

- Administer medications as ordered and document all care accurately and legibly in medical records
- Conduct sick-call health screenings using approved standing orders; refer to the physician when clinically indicated
- Transcribe physician orders and complete consultation, transfer, and Order to Report (OTR) documentation
- Provide emergency treatment to patients and staff; respond to medical emergencies on site
- Collect and process lab specimens; perform approved point-of-care testing at clinic sites
- Participate in chronic disease clinics and support intake, discharge, and release planning
- Support employee health activities including TB screening, Hepatitis B vaccination, flu vaccination, and post-exposure assessment
- Coordinate specialty appointments, admissions, and community-provider referrals on behalf of patients
- Collaborate with correctional officers and clinical peers to maintain a safe, compliant care environment
- Required
- Current active RN license (South Carolina or compact multi-state)
- Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
- Current BLS certification
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts including nights and every-other-weekend rotation
- Must be able to complete pre-placement requirements
- Preferred
- Prior correctional, psychiatric, emergency, or medical-surgical nursing experience
- Certified Correctional Health Professional
- Registered Nurse (CCHP-RN) certification - Familiarity with electronic health records and standing-order protocols
- Comfort working in a secure correctional environment with structured safety and security protocols
- Experience with chronic disease management, medication pass workflows, or inmate intake screenings
