School Nurse – Ben Lippen School

The Monticello Road campus school nurse supports the physical and emotional health needs of students by providing care for illness and injury and dispensing prescribed daily medications.

• Actively support the mission of Ben Lippen School in the execution of the nursing role and responsibilities.
• Work in collaboration with teachers, administration, parents, and outside resources to support student health needs.
• Provide medical care for students visiting the health room during school hours.
• Manage the healthcare needs of the international boarding students during and outside of school hours.
• Comply with state law regarding student immunization requirements.
• Purchase medical supplies for the three campuses.
• Maintain student medical records.
• Maintain and oversee the MR and SAR campus AED’s.
• Communicate with parents and teachers of students with acute or chronic health problems (i.e. Type I Diabetes, seizure disorder, recent surgery).
• Manage emergency medications (i.e. Epi Pens, rescue inhalers).
• Prepare first-aid kits for day and overnight field trips.
• Educate faculty and staff about pertinent medical issues.

• Registered nurse (RN), ADN or BSN, with a current South Carolina nursing license in good standing with the South Carolina Board of Nursing.
• Five or more years of RN experience in direct patient care; preferably some experience caring for children and adolescents.
• Current healthcare provider CPR and AED certification.
• Ability to organize tasks and work independently.
