The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will provide direct patient care, administer medications, monitor vital signs, support care planning, and educate patients and families. You will collaborate with physicians, RNs, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, evidence-based care. Responsibilities
- Provide direct bedside nursing care to patients under the supervision of RNs and providers, following MUSC policies and evidence-based protocols.
- Obtain and document vital signs, perform focused assessments, and promptly report changes in patient condition to the supervising RN or provider.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments safely, including PO, IM, SQ, and selected IV therapies, and accurately document in the EHR.
- Perform essential clinical procedures such as wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and basic respiratory support within LPN scope of practice.
- Support patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes, ensuring accurate documentation, patient education, and continuity of care.
- Educate patients and families on disease processes, medications, procedures, and self-care strategies, reinforcing teaching from RNs and providers.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team-including physicians, RNs, therapists, and ancillary staff-to coordinate and optimize patient care plans.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic health record, adhering to regulatory and institutional standards.
- Promote a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment by following infection prevention, fall prevention, and patient safety protocols.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, competency training, and educational opportunities offered by MUSC to support ongoing professional growth.
