Join an adult orthopedic spine team as a Travel Registered Nurse in Columbia, South Carolina, and provide high-quality care during a 13-week Med/Surg telemetry assignment. Care for patients recovering from complex spinal procedures while working in a supportive 26-bed unit with advanced monitoring, interdisciplinary services, and a patient-centered approach to recovery. - Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,710–$1,800
- Shift: Night shift, 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
- Schedule: Four 12-hour shifts per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend; approximately six weekend shifts during the contract
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5–6
- Unit: 26-bed orthopedic spine and telemetry-capable unit
- Charting: Epic
- Floating: May be required to qualified units or locations based on staffing needs
- Active South Carolina or multistate Registered Nurse (RN) license
- At least 1 year of recent Med/Surg Telemetry or orthopedic nursing experience
- At least 1 year of recent Epic electronic health record experience
- Orthopedic nursing experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Dysrhythmia certification or demonstrated telemetry nursing competency
- Ability to care for patients with medical-surgical, cardiac, neurological, and post-operative conditions
- Willingness to float to areas where documented competencies support safe patient care
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult orthopedic spine and medical-surgical telemetry patients
- Care for patients recovering from laminectomies, spinal fusions, discectomies, and other spinal procedures
- Monitor patients with cardiac conditions, low-risk acute coronary syndrome, TIAs, diabetes, hypertension, COPD, dehydration, chest pain, DVT, and PE
- Perform focused nursing assessments, recognize changes in patient condition, and communicate concerns promptly
- Provide post-operative, post-catheterization, post-renal biopsy, and pain-management care
- Monitor telemetry, pulse oximetry, vital signs, glucose levels, and heparin infusions according to established protocols
- Support or perform appropriate bedside procedures, including care related to lumbar punctures and CT angiography
- Collaborate with physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, rapid response teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Promote mobility, safety, patient education, and discharge readiness throughout the patient stay
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and uphold professional standards of patient care
