American Traveler is seeking a Cardiac Stepdown RN with 2+ years of experience and SC or compact RN license for a 13-week acute care hospital assignment.
Requirements- Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required; pending licenses considered but must be active prior to start
- AHA-issued BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
- IV start and telemetry skills required
- Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, and maintaining IVs
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and heparin protocols
- Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and respiratory care including nasal cannula and oxygen administration
- Social Security Number required for consideration
- Stepdown Cardiac unit within an acute care hospital
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Day shift, 3x12 hours (7a-7p) with rotating weekends
- Holiday coverage required as needed
- No on-call requirements
- May float between Downtown and Northeast campuses based on census or staffing needs, adjusting to the ratio of the floated unit
- Uses Epic EMR
- Cares for pre/post cardiac cath patients requiring telemetry monitoring
- Provide direct care for cardiac stepdown/PCU patients including neurological and CVA cases
- Complete pre-start training modules averaging 4 hours prior to starting the assignment
- Royal blue scrub color required
- Local candidates considered on a case-by-case basis within a 60-mile radius
- Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
- All requested time off must be submitted for facility approval prior to offer confirmation
- First-time travelers will be considered, though candidates with prior travel experience are preferred
- During hurricane season (June through November), all staff may be assigned to emergency response duties
