Job Summary /Purpose

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at a competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.

Minimum Training and Education

Associate degree in nursing. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations

Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association or a certified equivalent. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required.

Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors and outdoors, from elevated areas, in confined spaces, from kneeling positions, bending, twisting, squatting, pinching, gross motor activities, grasping, manipulating, reaching overhead, repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows/shoulders.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Ability to lift objects 50 lbs. from/to floor/36 inches, 36" to overhead 25 lbs.
  • Vision: good 20/40 corrected in one or both eyes; color discrimination; depth perception; peripheral vision.
  • Hearing: adequate hearing acuity, with correction.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, latex safe environment, respirator use as required.
  • Capacity to deal effectively with stressful situations.

Job Description

Minimum requirements:

Associate's Degree, and a minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse. Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current BLS certification from the AHA or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers required.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Proficiency in manual dexterity and fine motor skills for tasks such as taking patient vitals, administering injections, or conducting physical exams.
  • Capacity to lift and move patients or medical equipment as needed.
  • Visual acuity and color perception to accurately read medical charts, documents, and monitors.
  • Auditory ability to effectively communicate with patients and colleagues, and to perceive important sounds such as alarms or patient instructions.
  • Stamina and resilience to handle long shifts and stressful situations.
  • Mobility to navigate clinical environments.
  • Compliance with infection control protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment.
