Location: Kingstree

The Fermentation Lab Technician provides direct support to internal customers and indirect support to external customers by managing key aspects of the fermentation process. Responsibilities include preparing cultures and inoculums, monitoring critical parameters, and ensuring all tasks are performed under sterile conditions to maintain product quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow SOPs and safety protocols including Job Safety Analyses and Work Instructions
  • Perform sampling and testing on production tanks to maintain optimum conditions
  • Handle raw materials by weighing and dispensing for lab preparations
  • Detect microbial contamination using microscopic examinations and enrichment procedures
  • Communicate contamination findings to Quality Control management
  • Operate and monitor equipment to produce quality cultures and upstream fermentation data
  • Collaborate with team members to plan, organize, and share workload effectively
  • Participate in shift changeovers and ensure consistent operational coverage
  • Promote inclusive teamwork through professional communication and actions
  • Support strategic initiatives such as 5S, Safe Start, DICI, and Kaizen events
  • Maintain documentation in compliance with cGMP and Good Documentation Practices
  • Maintain lab inventory of reagents and consumables
  • Report quality deviations and support routine quality briefings
  • Prepare and transfer product into fermentation vessels under sterile conditions
  • Promote safety behaviors by following Life Saving Rules and PPE requirements
  • Intervene in quality or safety concerns when necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in a GLP laboratory setting
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Higher education in a scientific field (A.S. or B.S. degree)
