Job Overview
Crown Cork & Seal USA, Inc. (a wholly owned company of Crown Holdings, Inc.) is seeking a Quality Control Associate for its Beverage Division located in Cheraw, SC. The role involves inspecting aluminum cans and other packaging products throughout the production process to ensure compliance with company specifications and quality standards.
Responsibilities- Inspect product to determine compliance with order specifications and quality control system standards.
- Read Litho Department data sheets and communicate quality information to workers.
- Enter data into computer to confirm products are manufactured according to standards.
- Identify differences between established standards and worker products, suggesting modifications.
- Determine if samples gathered from line conform to company standard.
- Visually inspect cans to ensure "out-of-spec" cans do not leave the building, noting reason for rejection on worksheet.
- Gather samples from production lines at specific intervals throughout the shift.
- Report unresolved problems to supervisor orally and in writing.
- Write HFI’s on non-conforming products and recommend disposition of load to management.
- May shut down a production line if quality specifications cannot be achieved.
- Review quality problems with management.
- Set up and perform destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.
- Inspect test equipment, verifying it functions according to standards.
- Read company specification manuals to secure size and weight of product and verify test results versus company standards.
- Test and inspect products at various stages of production using precision measuring devices, evaluating statistical data to maintain quality and reliability.
- Calibrate weight, metal exposure and distribution gauges.
- Weigh metal body samples.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms; may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- May lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Good record keeping skills.
- Good listening skills.
- Accurate measurement capability.
- Ability to understand and speak basic English.
