Research Assistant Professor

Position Summary

Research Assistant Professor in the Center for Translational Therapeutics Drug Design and Synthesis Core (CTT‑DDSC), College of Pharmacy. Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week, Faculty Research Grant (FRGP) position, 12‑month basis, open until filled.

Under limited supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Assistant Professor will evaluate research projects for consideration in the CTT‑DDSC and develop synthetic routes for compounds requested by the DDSC.

• Evaluate research projects for consideration in the CTT‑DDSC and develop synthetic routes and implement synthesis for requested compounds.
• Assist PI with training postdoctoral fellows and students, maintain laboratory equipment, and contribute design of compounds for structure‑activity and lead optimization studies using existing biological data and molecular modeling.
• Propose new research, assist PI with writing grant applications to procure additional funding sources.
• Contribute to scholarly dissemination of research findings through publications in peer‑reviewed journals and presentations at domestic and international conferences.

PhD in synthetic organic chemistry related field with a focus on medicinal chemistry and a minimum of 36 months of relevant postdoctoral research experience.

Expertise in designing and implementing multi‑step synthetic routes for the generation of drug candidates and chemical biology probes.

Pre‑employment and post‑employment drug testing for safety‑sensitive positions. No hazardous weather category specified. Desired start date: 02/01/2022. Position ends when closed.
