Position DescriptionThe Department of Drug Discovery and Biomedical Sciences (DDBS) at the College of Pharmacy, University of South Carolina, is seeking to hire a Research Technician to conduct research in Dr. Jun Zhu’s laboratory on ongoing NIH‑funded projects to study the underlying mechanisms of HIV‑1 infection associated neurocognitive disorders.
In vitro pharmacological profile of human vesicular monoamine transporter (VMAT2) and its mutants will be characterized. The Research Technician will test compounds to identify optimized probe molecules using cell‑based assays expressing human VMAT
2. Additionally, the Research Technician will assist with other ongoing experiments and maintain instruments, lab safety, cleaning and organizing.
- Bachelor’s degree in biomedical science or related field.
- Prior experience working in a research laboratory is preferred.
