Job Summary

The Department of Drug Discovery and Biomedical Sciences (DDBS) at the College of Pharmacy, University of South Carolina (USC), is seeking to hire a Research Technician to conduct research in Dr. Jun Zhu’s laboratory on ongoing NIH‑funded research projects to study the underlying mechanisms of HIV‑1 infection associated neurocognitive disorders. The Research Technician is expected to perform work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator.

Duties include conducting cell culture and pharmacological assays to characterize the in vitro pharmacological profile of human vesicular monoamine transporter (VMAT2) and its mutants, and to test compounds to identify optimized probe molecules using cell‑based expressing human VMAT
2. The Research Technician will also assist with other ongoing experiments and maintain laboratory instruments, laboratory safety, cleaning, and organization.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in biomedical science or related field. Prior experience working in a research laboratory is preferred.
