General Function:
Selected candidates will be trained as a Retail Personal Banker I in a 4‑8 week onboarding program. The role focuses on using the consultative sales process to proactively identify and meet the financial needs of customers or prospects, driving household acquisition and deepening existing relationships through in‑store, tele‑consulting, and outreach activities.
- Use the consultative sales process and Financial Needs Assessment to build a thorough customer profile.
- Maintain an in‑depth knowledge of Retail consumer and small business products/services and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Utilize approved marketing tools to proactively reach out to customers and set appointments for periodic financial reviews.
- Cross‑sell to existing customers and engage in outside sales activities such as presentations, business calls, and community events.
- Establish close working relationships with assigned Business Partners (Mortgage, Small Business, Commercial, Investment) and refer customers when appropriate.
- Consistently meet or exceed customer experience and individual/team production goals, enhancing year‑over‑year revenue growth measured by the Financial Center P&L.
- Provide guidance to CSRs on the sales and referral process and promote customer satisfaction with a friendly, helpful demeanor.
- Open, service, and close the full range of Retail products in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Participate in the consumer loan and bankcard process, owning sourced loans from application through closing.
- Participate in the opening/closing process of the Financial Center or Bank Mart as directed by the Financial Center Manager.
- Keep up to date on Retail procedures to mitigate fraudulent activity and unnecessary risk or exposure.
- College degree or equivalent work experience providing transferrable skills.
- Preferred experience in the financial industry.
- Ability to develop confidence in sales activities for new and existing customers.
- Demonstrated understanding of advanced math functions for credit and financial analysis.
- Professional appearance and strong verbal/written communication skills.
- Knowledge of Retail policies and procedures and sound judgment in decision‑making.
- Required S.A.F.E. Act registration at the time of employment through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS).
- Normal office environment with frequent computer screen use.
- Travel within the affiliate for training and scheduling flexibility.
- Travel outside the affiliate required for classroom training sessions.
