JOB Individual will assist in capturing and sampling diadromous fishes, particularly Atlantic and shortnose sturgeon in the Santee-Cooper System. This will involve year-round time in small boats, often in inclement weather. Duties will include, but are not limited to, setting gill nets to collect sturgeon, collecting water quality information, safely operating small boats, accurately recording data, and maintaining project equipment (nets, boats, motors, trailers, YSI meters, etc.).
Individual will also assist in telemetry activities such as downloading acoustic receivers and maintaining receiver array throughout the Santee-Cooper System. Individual may also be expected to assist other projects within the diadromous section sampling American eel, American shad, and herring. Work may include unusual hours, some weekends, and field sampling out of town.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIESA high school diploma and two (2) years of related experience in wildlife, fisheries or agricultural work; or an associate degree in the technical sciences.
