Job Summary

USC is developing a unique hospital that will house the Palmetto State’s first standalone comprehensive medical facility dedicated entirely to integrated care of patients with brain and nervous system illnesses. The center will be co‑located with the new USC Health Sciences Campus. Successful candidates are expected to develop a cutting‑edge, externally funded research program that integrates with existing brain health research at USC, build strong collaborations with clinicians and researchers at the new clinical neurological care and rehabilitation center, teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses in the department, and provide service to the university, profession, and community.

Responsibilities
  • Develop a cutting‑edge, externally funded research program in brain health, integrating with existing research at USC.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and researchers at the newly established USC clinical neurological care and rehabilitation center.
  • Teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses within the department.
  • Provide service to the university, profession, and community.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, structural biology, chemical biology, chemistry, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years postdoctoral experience by the start date of employment.
  • Research experience in areas such as stroke and ischemia injury, neurobiology, neurochemistry, neurodegenerative diseases, neuro‑oncology, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in genomic, proteomic, and transcriptomic techniques at the molecular level.
