We are seeking an experienced Project Geologist to join the Hydrogeology Group within our multidisciplinary Regional Geotechnical Services team. This role is designed for an early to mid-career professional with 5-15 years of experience who can manage technical projects, budgets, and clients. This role requires strong technical expertise and effective project management skills with the opportunity to development into a Senior Geologist role.

Our Regional Geotechnical group focuses on serving projects for our solid waste, mining, and power industry clients. These projects span a multitude of support roles, from Phase 1 Development and infrastructure/support structure design to groundwater monitoring support during site operation and closure, as well as geologic hazard mitigation.

This role is anticipated to be an approximately 90% office and 10% fieldwork role with emphasis placed on training and mentoring junior staff in the field, attending industry specific conferences, and general business development

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology.
  • 5-15 years of experience supporting environmental consulting projects or related geological/environmental work.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations (state and federal), subsurface geology, soil and rock mechanics, hydrogeology, and environmental site assessment.
  • Experience with field investigation techniques (drilling, sampling, logging).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and mentor staff.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Ability to interpret and utilize environmental data to make sound decisions that achieve project objectives.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple, concurrent projects.
  • Professional Geologist (PG) licensure or ability to obtain professional licensure within an appropriate timeframe.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to authorize driving record review.
Key Responsibilities Environmental Investigation & Field Activities
  • Provide expert interpretation of analytical data in support of hydrogeologic investigations and remediation projects.
  • Lead geologic investigations including site reconnaissance, drilling oversight, sampling, and field data collection.
  • Interpret and utilize environmental data to make decisions to reach project objectives.
  • Conduct environmental risk assessments related to impacted soil, groundwater, surface water, and soil vapor.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, maps, and presentations for clients, regulators, and internal teams.
  • Guide the selection and application of appropriate field methods, data evaluation techniques, and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct environmental field investigations including groundwater, soil, surface water, and sediment sampling.
  • Assist with groundwater compliance activities and environmental monitoring programs.
  • Proficiency with classifying soil and rock materials and assist with interpretation of subsurface conditions.
  • Maintain compliance with project-specific health and safety requirements.
Project Oversight, Operational & Strategic Leadership
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring technical quality, budget, and schedule compliance.
  • Oversee field operations and data collection activities to ensure adherence to work plans, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverable deadlines.
  • Stay current with evolving industry regulations, best practices, and technologies.
  • Prepare technical reports, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.
  • Evaluate environmental data to identify trends, potential concerns, and data gaps.
  • Review geologic maps, cross-sections, site figures, and technical illustrations prepared by junior staff.
