Position Description Advertised Job Summary USC Press seeks a part-time temporary Acquisitions Assistant to support the Associate Editorial Director. The Acquisitions Assistant will:
- Prepare book manuscripts for transmittal to Editorial, Design, and Production by applying paragraph styles in Word, ensuring correct naming of image files, writing or editing alternative text for images, and completing provided checklists.
- Communicate formatting queries to authors and implement changes requested by Editorial, Design, and Production department.
- Prepare book proposals and manuscripts for peer review by researching appropriate expert reviewers, completing peer review letters based on templates, assembling project materials, and tracking reviewer outreach in Allbooks title management database.
- Maintain accurate title records in Allbooks.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
-Bachelor’s degree in a job-related field, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job-related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with Allbooks or other title management system(s) is preferred.
- Proficiency using Styles in Microsoft Word is preferred.
