Lieutenant - Front Gate BRR Security Front Gate, Columbia; RICHLAND

Overview

Serves as supervisor for the Broad River Complex Main Gate. Instructs and monitors subordinates in secure and efficient daily operations. Ensures that Broad River Main Gate is staffed properly and all agency policies and procedures are adhered to concerning employees, visitors and vendors.

• Conducts training in all areas that incumbent has T4T or instructor certifications, and maintains or re-certifies as required.
• Provides security and advance tactical escorts/transports when necessary, or as directed by the Director of Division of Security or designee.
• Serves as on-call official on a rotating schedule and responds to institutional emergencies/escapes when needed or as directed.
• Assists and supports the Division of Security with institutional security audits, special projects and assignments as necessary.
• Serves as ESHO back up for Division of Security.

• Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

  Minimum Requirements:
  
  A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.

  Minimum Requirements:
  • A high school diploma and three (3) years of experience in correctional, security, military, or police work to include one (1) year of supervisory experience.
  • A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for supervisory experience year for year (associate and above = 1 year).
  • Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
