Location: Columbia
- Schedules, directs, and supervises daily operations and activities of uniformed staff in a minimum-security facility.
- Supervises, inspects, and ensures proper internal security and control measures are in effect and enforced.
- Prepares, submits, and monitors reports required by the chain of command and policy.
- With minimum supervision, guided by written policy and procedure, allocates officers and resources to various duty shifts and functional areas.
- Conducts inspections of institutional facilities and equipment.
- Trains, develops, instructs, evaluates and counsels subordinates to ensure duty performance is in accordance with state laws and agency policies.
- Inspects all posts where shift employees are deployed.
- Interviews and counsels inmates to ensure maximum safety and security.
- Serves as responsible authority for inmate disciplinary actions.
- Ensures inmates maintain high standards of cleanliness and personal grooming.
- Prepares a variety of security related reports.
- Serves as on-call official and Duty Warden on weekends and holiday rotation.
- Other duties as required.
Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and relevant supervisory experience. A bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for the required supervisory experience.

Minimum Requirements:
- A high school diploma and eight (8) years’ experience in correctional, security, military, or police work to include four (4) year of supervisory experience.
- A degree in criminal Justice or a related degree may substitute for supervisory experience year for year (associate and above = 2 years). bachelor's and above = 4 years).
- Must be certified by the SCDC training academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
