Substitute School Safety Monitor (Temp)

Georgetown County School District – Safety / Risk Management, Georgetown, South Carolina. This position reports to the Director of Safety & Risk Management and is responsible for promoting and facilitating a safe campus environment for students and staff at the assigned school. Duties include overseeing the physical security of buildings and grounds and ensuring the personal safety of students, faculty, and staff.

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred;
  High School Diploma required
• Citizenship, residency, or work visa required

• Supervises weapons detection system and metal detector use at student arrival, late arrivals, and visitors throughout the day
• Responds to and investigates all safety concerns and emergency situations
• Assists administration in resolving conflicts between students and/or staff
• Monitors designated campus areas including hallways, restrooms, cafeteria, external doors, and parking lots
• Monitors and maintains video, radio, alarm, weapons detection, metal detection, and access control systems
• Works closely with local law enforcement agencies to monitor the status of students charged with criminal offenses
• Participates in random K-9 and metal detector inspections
• Serves as a member of the school level Behavioral Threat Assessment team
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Director

Must demonstrate manual dexterity to enter data on a computer, see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids, hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels and outdoors, speak in audible tones so that others understand clearly, and have physical agility to lift up to 40 pounds.
