As a Security Officer Visitor Screener – Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia, SC

What You'll Do- Provide customer service to staff, visitors, contractors, and authorized personnel by carrying out access control procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities at a government location.
- Monitor entry and exit points, verify identification and authorization, and help deter unauthorized access to restricted areas in accordance with site protocols.
- Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations calmly and problem‑solving, documenting observations and communicating with site contacts as needed.
- Conduct regular and random patrols around the location and perimeter, noting unusual activity, unsecured doors, or other security-related concerns.
- Support visitor management, key and credential control, and screening processes while maintaining professional interactions in a structured public sector environment.
- A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
- A minimum of 6 months of security-related experience is required.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Customer service experience is preferred.
- Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
