Juvenile Detention Security Officer in Columbia, SC will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government. You will monitor entry points, verify credentials, support a secure environment for staff, visitors, and youth services operations. This position requires routine patrols, visible deterrence, and professional customer service reflecting our values of agility, reliability, innovation, teamwork, and integrity.

Position Type: Full Time

Pay Rate: $17.00 / Hour

Job Schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 05:45 AM – 06:00 PM

• Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and/or vendors by following site‑specific procedures and supporting access control activities at a government location.
• Monitor entry and exit points, verify identification and/or credentials, screen authorized visitors, and maintain accurate logs of arrivals, departures, and restricted area access.
• Respond to incidents, unusual activity, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, and communicate observations according to post procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols around buildings, grounds, and perimeter areas to deter unauthorized access and identify security‑related concerns.
• Support emergency response activities when appropriate, including directing foot traffic, assisting with controlled entry measures, and reporting security‑related issues to site contacts and Allied Universal leadership.

• A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
• Possess at least 6 months of security‑related experience.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Be comfortable using a computer or tablet preferred.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
