As a Juvenile Correctional Security Officer - Screener in Columbia, SC

This is a driving post. In this role, you will remain visible, conduct routine patrols, and deliver strong customer service and communication while reflecting our agile, reliable, innovative culture built on teamwork and integrity.

Pay Rate: $17.00 / Hour

Job Schedule:

Day Time Thur 05:45 PM - 06:00 AM Sat 05:45 PM - 06:00 AM

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and/or vendors by following access control procedures, site‑specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Monitor entry and exit points, verify identification and/or credentials, and help to deter unauthorized access to the location.
  • Screen visitors, deliveries, and/or personal property in accordance with site rules and government location protocols, reporting concerns through proper channels.
  • Respond to incidents, policy violations, and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, documenting observations and actions taken.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around assigned areas and perimeter locations to help to deter suspicious activity and support security‑related operations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
  • A tuberculosis test and MMR vaccinations are required for COLA DPSS/DHS.
  • A minimum of 6 months of security‑related experience is required.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
