Position Summary
The Public Safety Officer I is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, staff, and property. This position performs routine patrols, responds to security incidents, assists with emergency situations, and enforces organizational policies and procedures. Officers are expected to maintain a professional presence while delivering exceptional customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Patrol assigned areas on foot and/or by vehicle to ensure the safety and security of people and property.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, disturbances, alarms, and requests for assistance.
- Monitor entrances, exits, and restricted access areas.
- Prepare accurate incident, accident, and daily activity reports.
- Assist with de‑escalating conflicts and disruptive behavior.
- Enforce organizational policies and security procedures.
- Work collaboratively with hospital staff, law enforcement, and emergency responders when necessary.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 0–1 year of relevant public safety, security, military, or law enforcement experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to obtain and maintain all required state security licenses and certifications.
- Strong communication and report‑writing skills.
- Personally owned duty firearm chambered in 9mm or .40 S&W with a minimum 4‑inch barrel.
- Preferred to provide a personally owned Level III retention holster (department‑issued holsters may be available if needed).
- SIGSauer firearms are not permitted for duty use.
