Shop Technician

Overview

The Shop Technician I assumes a high level of responsibility early. Successful Shop Technicians are fast learners, self-motivated and independent workers. Shop Technicians receive intensive training in troubleshooting, technical procedures, and safety. • Maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all types mechanical and hydraulic- and diesel-powered equipment.
• Tests equipment for proper operation.
• Inspects required by the company and ensures total customer service.
• Installs and/or replaces new or reconditioned repair parts.
• Operates lifting devices and prepares parts requisitions, timecards, part returns, accurate and complete service reports and other necessary reports and forms.
• Completes proper paperwork as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Performs inspections required by company.
• Maintains, diagnoses and repairs equipment including diesel engines, transmissions, drive train components, winches, high pressure pumps, centrifugal pumps, air compressors, microprocessor controls, electro-mechanical equipment, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, gearboxes, PTOs, 12/24V electrical systems, equipment cabs and controls, chassis and suspension, A/C systems, etc.
• Operational knowledge of diagnostic equipment (e.g., Cat ET, CAT-SIS) and familiarity with electronic cables, connections, and sensors.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years experience maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing diesel equipment required.
• Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and proper repair procedures required.
• Must be able to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics, operating and maintenance service manuals.
• Ability to use diagnostic equipment and familiarity with electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic circuits/drawings/prints.
• Organizational and time management skills; ability to set priorities and handle stress in a fast-paced environment.
• Team player who is enthusiastic, hardworking, and able to complete work with minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Professional demeanor as a Blanchard representative when meeting customers.
• Problem solving skills and attention to detail with high accuracy.
• Must be able to work shift work, weekends and/or 24-hour on-call may be required.
• Must be able to use, interpret, and apply electrical/hydraulic schematics and related manuals.

• The physical environment requires work primarily inside (non-climate controlled) throughout the day.
• Required to use personal protective equipment to prevent injury or exposure to hazardous materials.
• Job requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and use of a broad variety of tools and machines.
• Required to lift varied weights and operate computers and other technologies to complete job responsibilities.
