Responsibilities

Responsible for installing fiber, copper, and hardware for large scale cabling projects from start to finish. Reading and interpreting project drawings, ensuring quality work, documenting daily work. Installing conduit and cable tray, terminating network cabling per BICSI standards. Completing projects by deadlines to ensure on time completion.

Perform skilled structured cabling work in the installation, service, maintenance, repair, and alteration of low voltage category cabling, fiber optic cabling, and other low voltage cabling systems. This includes removing or installing structured cabling components, such as conduit, cable trays, racks, faceplates, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting of low voltage cabling fiber optics, coax, Cat6a cable.

Must be able to use Fluke Certifier for both Cat6A and fiber testing.

Experience in a hospital environment is an advantage.

Help and assist with developing and implementing strategies for installation, configuration, and maintenance of all telecommunications systems and networks. Responsible for installation of communication cabling and equipment per plans, specifications, codes, and standards. Experience with hand tools, power tools, basic understanding of Telecom Systems, blueprints, codes and standards. Knowledge of UPS, racks, cabinets, PDU, grounding, bonding.

Work in team environment to facilitate installation of cables from Telecommunication Rooms (TR) to work area outlets (WAO) following drawings and run lists to ensure methodical installation and proper bundles el TRs, racks, cable per ANSI/TIA-606-C. Report project status to project Foreman and Project Manager.

Maintain and care for tools and test equipment. Ensure daily clean up. Take steps to reduce or eliminate site hazards. Operate safely wearing required PPE.

Familiar with ANSI/TIA standards, Fluke Testers, Master Construction Specifications, seismic zones, proper bracing and anchoring of installed equipment.

Perform installations for all pathways and support systems, including multi-floor pathways and penetrations for Fiber Optical Cable/Copper Backbones for very large buildings up to 1,000,000 sq ft.

Perform QA inspections of wiring installations during final site inspections; ensure compliance with manufacturer, industry, NEC, and customer design standards. Identify, document, and report all issues and errors.

Design outside plant cabling pathways including wall/floor conduit penetrations. Work with customer and prime contractor on fiber and copper to be installed, terminated, tested, and deliver test results.

Experience with OSP (Outside Plant) phases of telecommunications construction is highly desired.

Educational Requirements
  • High School Education or GED with 10 years of experience
  • Associate’s degree with 5 years of experience
