Job Summary

Plan, lay out, and install all necessary rigging components for safely lifting and installing equipment, machinery, and materials in accordance with plans, specifications, codes and industry standards. Select, attach, and use appropriate slings, cables, pulleys, winches, blocks and sheaves, wires, and straps to safely accomplish lifts. Take direction from a higher skilled worker or foreman.

  • Demonstrate high proficiency in related trade mathematics.
  • Inspect subordinates  work, ensure accuracy and compliance with plans and specifications, explain deficiencies and take corrective action as needed.
  • Eliminate waste such as waiting, rework, transporting, material storage and time.
  • Lift and carry heavy items up to 50 pounds.
Minimum

Job Requirements
  • Minimum experience levels: three years (level I), four years (level II), five years (level III), and six+ years (level Sr.) in the industrial/commercial construction industry with in-depth understanding of the ironworker trade.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications, safety and quality standards; effectively utilize all trade tools and equipment relevant to the work.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess current rigger license or certification as required by local, state, or federal law or regulation.

Physical Requirements
  • Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
  • Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
  • Lift, push or pull objects up to 50 lbs on an occasional basis.
  • Use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects frequently.
  • Comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Move above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • Stooping, kneeling, or bending on an occasional basis.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.).
  • Move in and around confined, cluttered and uneven areas.
  • May use telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices on a limited basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors.
