Job Description

Stevens Towing Co., Inc., through Charleston County School District, offers Student Welder Apprenticeship positions for the Spring 2020 semester. The program is available to Baptist Hill High School and Johns Island High School students and provides high-wheel credit and hourly compensation. The apprenticeship term runs from January 2020 through May 2020.

Salary: $7.25 – $10.20 per hour

Unless otherwise defined by applicable law, any employment relationship with Stevens Towing Company, Inc. is of an 'at-will' nature, which means the employee may resign at any time and the company may discharge the employee at any time with or without cause.

Partner and work with an experienced welder to gain skills in the following areas: different gases (argon, helium, argon/carbon dioxide), filler and base metals, metal tensile and yield strength, welding materials and alloys, applying these processes to manufacturing, repairing, modifying, rebuilding and assembling structures, pipe preparation and fitting, and plate welding.

Must have good math skills, strong problem‑solving abilities, and a fundamental understanding of basic geometry.

Must learn safety rules and become familiar with proper use of safety equipment. Must comply with all Safety and Pollution Prevention Regulations and Procedures at all times under the direction of Stevens Towing Company, Inc.’s safety policies.

Required to participate in random drug screens as a condition of employment.
