At West Fraser, our Industrial Electrician is responsible for repairing, replacing, installing, programming, and testing all electrical circuits and equipment. Occasionally, this role will be expected to perform or assist in repairs or installation of electrical control systems.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform preventative maintenance on electrical components of mill equipment.
- Repair, modify, and maintain a variety of electrical equipment.
- Wire circuits, replace components, and repair electronic devices.
- Perform tests using various measuring instruments including multi‑meter and Megger.
- Remain current in technical changes and equipment designs by attending necessary classes as required.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, holidays, weekends, and overtime as required.
- Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules, regulations, and guidelines to include the wearing of necessary PPE, the use of safety equipment, and completing all necessary training.
- Other duties as assigned by leadership.
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED.
- Eligible to legally work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
- Have a strong background with proven work experience using electrical fundamentals.
- Understanding of 3-phase and single-phase power distribution systems, motor controls, and wiring.
- Experience with 480‑volt power, logic circuits, and machine control systems.
- Proven understanding of electrical schematics.
- Possess advanced electrical and electronic troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to fully identify the features and functions of controllers and differentiate from pneumatic and electronic devices.
- Ability to identify the signal path through a control circuit.
- Willingness to work a 12‑hour rotating schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Willingness to work on an emergency, on‑call basis as required.
- Ability to work as part of a team to deliver value to the mill as a individual and as a whole.
- Willingness to cross‑train to learn new jobs and skills.
- Be reliable and possess consistent and predictable attendance behavior.
