GPS Excavator Operator

As an Equipment Operator, your primary responsibility is to complete tasks safely and accurately assigned by the Superintendent using construction equipment.

• Operate GPS‑equipped excavators to perform fine grading, excavation, trenching, and site preparation.
• Read and follow site plans, grade stakes, and GPS machine control systems to achieve precise elevations and slopes.
• Excavate, load, move, and place soil, rock, and other materials.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance.
• Report equipment issues and coordinate repairs with supervisors.
• Work closely with foremen and ground crew to complete projects safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and project specifications.

• Previous experience operating excavators in heavy civil or site development projects.
• Experience using GPS machine control systems (such as Trimble, Topcon, or Leica) is strongly preferred.
• Ability to read construction plans, grade stakes, and project specifications.
• Strong understanding of excavation, grading, and drainage practices.
• Valid driver's license (CDL may be preferred depending on the employer).
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding work.

• Flexibility to work overtime or travel to project sites when needed.
