Job Description

Aramark Facilities Management is hiring a HVAC Technician I to support heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems at Erskine College in Due West, South Carolina. This hands‑on role is ideal for an experienced HVAC technician, maintenance technician, service technician, or facility maintenance professional who can independently diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC equipment. Daily work includes responding to service calls, performing preventive maintenance, changing filters, cleaning units, and completing work orders in the maintenance management system.

Candidates should be comfortable working with HVAC systems in an active campus environment and collaborating with supervisors to prioritize repairs and maintenance needs. We are looking for a dependable technician with strong troubleshooting abilities, practical repair experience, and a commitment to safety and reliability. The position works a regular day shift and offers the opportunity to maintain critical building systems that support campus operations.

Job Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC, refrigeration, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems
  • Charge refrigerant systems and perform HVAC repairs as needed
  • Install, inspect, test, operate, and maintain HVAC and refrigeration equipment
  • Change air filters, clean units, and complete scheduled preventive maintenance tasks
  • Perform work orders and PM assignments through the TMA/CMMS maintenance system
  • Inspect equipment for proper operation and identify potential issues before failures occur
  • Calibrate, repair, and maintain pneumatic controls and related equipment
  • Clean and maintain air handlers, ducts, ventilation systems, and associated HVAC components
  • Respond to emergency HVAC and facility maintenance service requests
  • Maintain accurate service records, maintenance documentation, and equipment logs
  • Maintain inventory of parts, materials, and tools needed to support operations
  • Work safely around electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systems while following all safety procedures
  • Coordinate repairs and maintenance activities with supervisors and other skilled trades as needed
  • Provide professional service to campus staff, students, and visitors
Qualifications Required
  • 3+ years of HVAC service, commercial maintenance, facilities maintenance, refrigeration, or related experience
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing HVAC equipment, including troubleshooting system failures
  • Ability to perform refrigerant charging, filter changes, equipment cleaning, and preventive maintenance
  • Valid EPA Certification (EPA 608 Certification required)
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, refrigeration principles, and mechanical equipment
  • Ability to read work orders, complete maintenance records, and document repairs
  • Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, climb, and stand for extended periods
  • Ability to work safely and follow all required safety procedures and PPE requirements
  • Availability to work a regular day shift schedule
Preferred
  • HVAC trade school training or technical certification
  • Experience working in college, university, healthcare, commercial, industrial, or institutional facilities
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS/TMA)
  • Knowledge of basic electrical and plumbing systems
  • Additional HVAC, refrigeration, or mechanical certifications
