HVAC Tech / Heating Engineer, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Building Maintenance, Installation Technician
Location: Columbia
Assign personnel in all phases of maintenance and repair of SCARNG facilities, to include heating and air, plumbing, and electrical work. Performs heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems maintenance and repair tasks. Uses standard tools and specialized testing and monitoring equipment to repair, overhaul, install, and maintain HVAC systems. Inspects, installs, repairs, and maintains natural gas and propane fueled heating systems and fuel distribution.
Inspects, installs, repairs, and maintain water heating systems both electrical and propane/natural gas fueled. Manages preventive maintenance program of all HVAC systems and maintains written records of preventive maintenance. Perform preventive maintenance on heating and air conditioning equipment. Display knowledge of safety practices in the work place. Complete work orders in a timely manner and purchase requisitions for HVAC department.
Trades experience that is directly related to the area of employment. A high school diploma or equivalent and trade experience in the installation, repair or maintenance of heating, venting air conditioning (HAVAC) and refrigeration systems.
License in EPA – approved Freon recovery certification.
Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license and complete the agency’s AAA driver’s safety course. Must be able to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, and stand for a long period of time. Must be able to climb and work from ladders, stairs, and scaffolding. Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work in confined spaces;
hot, hazardous and noisy locations; and in adverse weather conditions. Position requires participation in the on-call program and to work after hours, as on call technician.
