Description
The Resident Automation Technician I supports our customer on all automation-related topics. This position requires a broad-based electrical and mechanical skillset and a proactive approach to improve the site’s performance through trouble‑shooting and hands‑on repair. Based at our customer sites, the Resident Automation Technician I must represent the TGW image and ensure that a professional relationship with the client is developed and maintained.
The position is onsite at our customer location in Cowpens, SC.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Resolve customer equipment issues as quickly and practically as possible.
- Complete work assignments and the associated work orders as assigned.
- Complete maintenance activities pertaining to the automated equipment onsite, including conveyors, cranes, shuttles, scale checks, and carton‑opening systems.
- Adhere to the highest quality standards, while always ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation.
- Optimize automation efficiency and performance to ensure delivery of contracted KPIs. Interface with the customer as needed to support operations.
- Monitor and maintain the site spare parts inventory, as applicable.
- Collaborate with the broader TGW Lifetime Services team to track, document, and communicate issues and lessons learned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree or Technical Certificate preferred.
ExperiencePrevious experience in electrical or mechanical troubleshooting and repair of material handling conveyors, AS/RS, and shuttle systems preferred.
Skills & Abilities- Thorough attention to detail and demonstrated problem‑solving ability
- Excellent communication skills and customer service skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Ability to stand and walk around industrial and/or warehouse environment for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Ability to operate computers, tablets, phones, and other electronic devices.
- Visual and auditory abilities to work safely with and around moving and/or motorized equipment, machinery, parts, and electricity that require safety protocols
- Ability to move and use muscles for extended periods of time without fatigue.
- Ability to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
- Ability to communicate regularly with others verbally and in writing.
- Ability to tolerate exposure to job site temperature fluctuations due to seasonal weather in geographic region.
This position requires work at TGW customer sites. TGW’s customers may require background checks before accessing their sites. Refusal to participate in a customer‑required background check may result in a customer barring access and a subsequent reduction in work.
