Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified and dependable
NICET II Fire Alarm Technician
to support fire alarm system operations and maintenance at
Moncrief Army Health Clinic (MAHC), Fort Jackson, South Carolina
.

The technician will be responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, documentation, and upgrade of fire alarm and associated life-safety systems supporting a critical military healthcare facility.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, professional communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining reliable life-safety systems in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and installation requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance of fire alarm and life-safety systems.
  • Conduct fire alarm inspections and testing in accordance with applicable requirements and approved procedures.
  • Troubleshoot fire alarm control panels, initiating devices, notification appliances, power supplies, modules, circuits, and related equipment.
  • Diagnose system faults and determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Perform repairs, component replacement, programming, and system modifications as authorized.
  • Assist with fire alarm system installations, upgrades, alterations, and acceptance testing.
  • Read and interpret fire alarm drawings, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, specifications, and system documentation.
  • Use appropriate electronic test equipment and diagnostic tools.
  • Maintain accurate inspection, testing, maintenance, repair, and service records.
  • Prepare detailed service reports documenting deficiencies, corrective actions, test results, and recommended repairs.
  • Identify system deficiencies and communicate recommended corrective actions to management and Government representatives.
  • Coordinate work activities with facility personnel and other contractors to minimize disruption to healthcare operations.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and system trouble conditions as required.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Follow all applicable safety requirements, including OSHA, EM 385-1-1, installation safety procedures, and site-specific requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • NICET Level II certification in Fire Alarm Systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience working with commercial fire alarm systems.
  • Working knowledge of fire alarm system installation, inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret fire alarm drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with applicable
    NFPA fire alarm requirements
    , particularly NFPA 72.
  • Working knowledge of applicable OSHA and safety requirements.
  • Ability to use electrical and electronic test equipment.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required installation access credentials.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three or more years of fire alarm service and maintenance experience.
  • Previous experience supporting
    Department of Defense, military, healthcare, or other critical facilities
    .
  • Experience with large-scale addressable fire alarm systems.
  • Experience with fire alarm system programming and configuration.
  • Familiarity with UFC requirements and Department of Defense fire/life-safety standards.
  • Experience performing inspection and testing documentation for Government or healthcare facilities.
  • Additional NICET certifications or manufacturer-specific certifications.
Physical Requirements

The position requires the ability to:

  • Lift and carry equipment and materials as required.
  • Work from ladders, lifts, and elevated work areas.
