Job Description & How to Apply Below

Keep 37 heavy-lift cranes moving—safely and reliably

You’ll maintain and troubleshoot a fleet of 37 cranes ranging from 10 to 180 tons, standing 40 to 105 feet tall. The work mix is approximately 70% reactive response and 30% planned preventive maintenance (PM), with a strong emphasis on electrical troubleshooting. The fleet includes a mix of contact and job cranes.

A day in the life

Your shift starts by triaging any overnight faults. You’ll jump into reactive work first—tracking down electrical issues, restoring safe operation, and documenting findings—then pivot to scheduled PMs to prevent the next unplanned stop.

Daily PM routines
  • Check gearboxes; perform replacement or rewiring work as needed
  • Conduct visual inspections of the crane and hoist
  • Function-test hoist up/down, bridge travel, and trolley travel
  • Verify emergency stops and all control functions
  • Test upper and lower limit switches
  • Check brake operation and stopping performance
  • Inspect the hook, latch, and load block
  • Listen and look for abnormal noises, vibration, oil leaks, or signs of overheating
Weekly/Monthly tasks
  • Inspect and lubricate bearings, gears, sheaves, and all lubrication points
  • Examine wire rope for broken wires, corrosion, kinking, and wear
  • Inspect hooks for cracks, deformation, and throat opening
  • Check brake components and perform necessary adjustments
  • Inspect wheels, axles, bearings, and drive components
  • Inspect electrical panels, contractors, collectors, and connections
  • Verify limit switches and control components
What sets you up for success

Comfort diagnosing electrical issues under time pressure, a sharp eye for mechanical wear, and a commitment to safe, standards-based work.
