The Family Justice Center of Georgetown and Horry Counties is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and trauma‑informed Counselor to provide critical counseling services to individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. This position plays a vital role in helping survivors achieve safety, healing, and long‑term stability.
Job SummaryThe Licensed Counselor delivers trauma‑informed, evidence‑based counseling to survivors and their children while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, survivor‑centered care.
Position SummaryProvide individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, safety planning, and care coordination for survivors of domestic violence. This role works closely with Family Justice Center case managers, court advocates, shelter staff, and community partners to support comprehensive services.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Services- Provide individual and group counseling to adult and child survivors of domestic violence
- Utilize trauma‑informed, evidence‑based therapeutic approaches
- Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and emotional support
- Conduct intake assessments, develop treatment plans, and monitor client progress
- Consult with FJC providers, Program Director, and community partners
- Coordinate services to support holistic, survivor‑centered care
- Conduct community presentations and outreach as required
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic client database
- Adhere to confidentiality, ethical, and professional standards
- Maintain professional licensure or actively pursue licensure
- Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field
- 2–3 years of counseling experience with trauma or domestic violence survivors
- Strong knowledge of trauma‑informed care and crisis intervention
- South Carolina licensure through SCLLR or actively seeking licensure
- Successful completion of background checks
