Job Duties
  • The Child Welfare Services Case Worker Assistant must possess a valid driver's license, be able and willing to drive and transport children and adults, must be able to lift children and interact with children and adults in a positive and supportive demeanor. Must have the ability to cope with stressful work and life‑threatening situations.
  • Performs Child Welfare administrative services in accordance with DSS Policy, Agency Mission and GPS Practice Model.
  • Authentically engages families and other professionals with empathy and respect.
  • Works collaboratively with Child Welfare staff in performing administrative tasks to support families and other professional/agency partners; tasks can include facilitating referrals, written correspondence, records request, maintaining case records, family searches, and transportation for visitation.
  • Maintains an active routine of self‑care and pursues support when necessary to minimize the threat of secondary trauma to physical and mental health.
  • Ensures that personal identifying information (PII) is properly used, accessed, gathered, shared and disposed. Protects the agency networks and applications by safeguarding systems, equipment and data.
  • Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.
  • Performs Red Cross shelter duty or other emergency shelter duties/services as directed.
Qualifications

A High School Diploma and one (1) year or more of child welfare relevant program experience.

Associate Degree may be substituted for the required related experience.

Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to and be able to operate a motor vehicle. Individuals must comply with necessary field work assignments.
