under limited supervision, provide notification and court accompaniment to victims regarding cases represented by the office of the south carolina attorney general in prosecutorial matters. Assistance to victims is provided in a trauma-informed manner.

responsibilities include:

• providing notification to victims of cases handled by the office of the south carolina attorney general relating to prosecutorial matters (general prosecution, icac, vulnerable adult, state grand jury) as mandated by statute, including, but not limited to, securing the victim impact statement (vis), providing notification of court proceedings, and advising of the victim's rights to participate.
• accompanying victims to court proceedings relating to the assigned caseload. Providing emotional/social support and information to ensure the victim understands case status, court procedures, and possible outcomes. Ensuring the victim's input is communicated to the prosecutor.
• maintaining an accurate case record system. Documenting files to ensure compliance with applicable laws.
• conferring with victims in person, by telephone, text message, or email regarding case status and/or needed services.
• keeping apprised of victim-related statute changes, case law, and current best practices for victim services providers.
• obtaining the statutorily required educational credits for a victim service provider and by the department of crime victim services training, provider certification, and statistical analysis (cvst).
• performing other related duties as assigned by the division director, chief deputy attorney general, and/or attorney general.

minimum and additional requirements include:

• a bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years of victim advocacy experience. A master's degree or a victim advocacy certification may be substituted for work experience.
• position may require overnight travel.
• position may require employee to work evenings and weekends.

preferred qualifications include:

• a thorough knowledge of the sc criminal justice system and the duties of victim service providers as outlined by state statute.
• knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and procedures relevant to the area of employment.
• ability to exercise judgment and discretion. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• ability to communicate effectively.
