Description

Position Summary:

The Vocational Services Job Coach provides on-site support, training, and supervision to individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment, primarily those served through the Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (OIDD) system, Ability One program, and the Partnership Work Experience (PWE) program. This role is critical in ensuring program participants achieve meaningful, sustainable employment and develop the skills necessary to succeed in integrated work environments.

This position also partners with the Director of Vocational Services and Human Resources to coordinate and support workplace accommodations for employees.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coaches participants individually or in groups at job sites, retail stores, or contract locations.
  • Liaise with HR and the Director of Vocational Services to support associates with disabilities and ensure the provision of workplace accommodations.
  • Monitors and assists participants involved in the Ability One program to ensure contract requirements are met and performance standards are upheld.
  • Oversees and guides participants in the Partnership Work Experience program, facilitating skill-building and fostering independence.
  • Develops individualized strategies, including task modification and visual aids, to support learning and skill development.
  • Tracks attendance, progress, goals, and outcomes in accordance with funding and regulatory requirements.
  • Completes timely and accurate documentation or reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly) that are in accordance with OIDD, Ability One, HIPAA, and internal policies and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all records and files, ensuring HIPAA compliance, safe and secure in designated areas.
  • Communicates with leadership, employer partners, families, and case managers to support participant success.
  • Advocates for a safe, inclusive, and respectful work environment, modeling professional behaviors.
  • Transports participants/associates and travels as needed to support program activities, performing other duties as assigned.

Education:

Associates Degree or equivalent is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and Outlook, Office 365, and SharePoint.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of social service and community agency practices.
  • Ability to network and develop partnerships with local employers.
  • Ability to:
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Follow instructions in verbal and written format
  • Communicate efficiently and effectively
  • Interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds, and individuals with disabilities
  • Work extended hours and various schedules, and travel frequently to local sites and work flexible hours.

  • Handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines

Upon hire, will be required to obtain certifications in First Aid & CPR, MANDT, Medication Tech, Defensive Driving, and any additional training as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be able to drive, have a valid South Carolina driver’s license, liability insurance, dependable vehicle, and clean driving record.
