AI Agentic Engineer

Overview

US, GC only. No subs or sponsorship possible. This is a contract-to-hire role.

This is a new role to establish a core competency in agentic AI systems. This engineer will be pivotal in designing and deploying advanced AI agents and will build the foundational frameworks for future AI use cases across the organization.

• Analyze, design, program, and implement complex applications and tasks. Devise feasible procedures to resolve business problems using computer resources.
• Define scope and objectives through research to develop or modify complex systems. Provide technical direction and support for business systems software and procedures.
• Design, code, test, and debug the most complex application programs.
• Provide expertise on the integration of applications across the business and conceive structures and programs for business systems software.
• Act as an internal consultant, mentor, and change agent, working with customers, business analysts, and team members to determine requirements that drive quality solutions.
• Ensure solutions align with IT strategies and architectural standards; contribute to design recommendations and decide on code reuse or new development.
• Participate in architecture design, performance monitoring, product evaluation, and buy-versus-build decisions.
• Develop enterprise-level applications and custom integrations; assess interdependencies to minimize cross-system impact.
• Develop programming and development standards; explore new data sources and techniques; manage the full systems life cycle.
• Provide guidance to lower-level programmers/analysts and lead complex projects or phases of large projects.
• Test designed programs, verify logic, debug, and document responsibilities.

• Advanced understanding of applications/development, QA and integration methodologies in a mainframe, midrange, or PC/LAN environment.
• High level of technical proficiency in programming languages, platform capabilities, systems analysis and program design.
• Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills; ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.
• Effective verbal and written communication; strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders.
• Experience with project management concepts and risk/benefit assessment for medium to large projects.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 8 years of experience in application development, systems testing, or related fields.

• Education:
  
  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
• Degree Equivalency: 4 years of related experience or 2 years plus an associate’s degree.
• Work Experience:
  
  8 years of application development, systems testing, or related experience.

• 3–6 years of hands-on experience in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or related fields.
• Python with hands-on AI/ML development experience.
• Generative AI development experience from concept to production deployment.
• Cloud environments (AWS preferred), LLM hosting, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Agentic AI concepts: reasoning, planning, tool use.
• Tech Stack:
  Python, JavaScript/Type Script, AI tools and libraries (e.g., Lang Chain, Lang Graph, Deep Agents), AI models (Claude, OpenAI, etc.), AI concepts (Prompt Engineering, RAG, Agentic AI), distributed SDLC/Dev Ops (Git Hub, pipelines, VS Code, testing frameworks), platforms (containers, cloud, document DBs, AWS), API design.

• Proficiency in Python development with FastAPI/Flask and SQL.
• Familiarity with agentic AI frameworks (Lang Chain, Lang Graph, Auto Gen, Model Context Protocol), Chain of Thought prompting, knowledge stores, embeddings.
• Experience developing autonomous agents using cloud AI services.
• Prompt engineering techniques and model fine-tuning experience.
• Strong understanding of reinforcement learning, planning algorithms, and multi-agent systems.
• Experience deploying AI solutions across AWS, Azure, and GCP.

A typical day includes a mix of hands-on coding, architectural design, and research. The engineer will spend significant time in Python, building and optimizing agentic AI systems with frameworks like Lang Chain, integrating with backend services, and deploying via CI/CD into our cloud environment. Responsibilities include researching and testing new agentic models and frameworks, monitoring agent behavior in production, and collaborating with data scientists and business stakeholders to refine requirements and ensure ethical deployment of AI solutions.

Onsite:
Partially onsite 3 days per week (Tue, Wed, Thu) and as needed. Standard hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Remote candidates may be reviewed if no local qualified candidates. Credit check will be required. No clearance needed.
