The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (SCDMV) utilizes a multi-tiered architecture for its core business systems. The Business Application Tier employs Micro Focus Visual COBOL running under Internet Information Services (IIS) on Microsoft Windows 2022 servers. This assignment involves developing new business functions as well as troubleshooting, modifying, and enhancing existing functions within the established SCDMV application framework. Projects may encompass business logic for online systems, batch programming, data extraction, and reporting across all SCDMV business areas.
The engineer will work closely with the user interface tiers, which consist of Microsoft .NET applications ( and C#.NET), and the database tiers, utilizing both SQL and Oracle. Production troubleshooting support is expected, so some level of production support experience is required. The contractor will be expected to work with minimal supervision, directly interact with business area specialists, and develop technical approaches and designs.
Additionally, they will be responsible for coding, testing, and supporting.
- 8+ Years of Development with MICROFOCUS Visual COBOL in Windows Server 2019/2022, batch and under IIS.
- 4+ Years Experience with Visual Studio 2019/2022 including the ability to use the debugger.
- 4+ years of Application programming against RDBMS (Oracle, SQL).
- Experience with MICROFOCUS COBOL Version 7 and higher.
- IIS Configuration/Setup.
- Skilled in C# and .NET.
- Ability to write complex queries using SQL for Oracle and MS SQL DB.
