Software Engineer

Remote / hybrid work arrangement.

• Lead ongoing technical development of software engineering projects, applying academic and practical knowledge.
• Work with IBM DOORS Next Generation to develop system architecture and environmental development capabilities.
• Write and maintain Software Requirement Specification documentation.
• Analyze information, design software, write requirements, test, document, debug, and apply software development fundamentals and methodology.
• Apply advanced knowledge of discipline theories, concepts, principles, and techniques, and utilize standard software engineering practices and applications.
• Develop moderately complex software and use configuration management, change management, scanning, and debugging tools throughout the software development life cycle.
• Work independently with minimal direction to complete projects on time; adapt to changing priorities and handle unplanned assignments.

• 15+ years of experience in software engineering related positions, including at least 10 years on Department of Energy projects.
• Experience participating in systems engineering teams with responsibilities in software engineering and program development to support systems engineering initiatives.
• Proven ability to work independently and within a multi-discipline team.
• Strong programming skills in computer languages, software development fundamentals/methodology, and database infrastructure.
• Proficiency in configuration management systems, change management, scanning, and debugging tools.
• Experience with IBM DOORS Next Generation system architecture and environmental development.
• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s degree in an IT related discipline (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering) with 10 years proven performance; or Associate Degree with 12 years proven performance; or high school diploma with at least 15 years equivalent knowledge and experience.

Occasional travel is required. Candidate must be able to work independently and within a multi-discipline team.
