POSITION SUMMARY
The Head Coach for Women’s Soccer reports to the Athletic Director and will work all aspects of the Women’s program. This position will lead the day-to-day operations of the Women’s Soccer program and will help ensure compliance with policies and procedures following NCAA, Conference Carolinas, and institutional regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience as a player or coach required.
- Supports NGU’s mission statement and core values, commitment to a Christian lifestyle and character in keeping with a biblical model.
- Affirm an understanding of the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.
- Affirm understanding of the University’s Statement on Human Flourishing.
- Agree to abide by the employee handbooks, including community standards agreements.
- Mobility ability to demonstrate basic soccer skills, move for 2 hours during practice sessions, lift equipment or other items of 50 pounds.
- Hearing well enough to communicate with students and co‑workers.
- Visual ability to drive, read and use a computer.
- Communication with students well enough to dictate instructions.
- Cognitive/Emotional – ability to critically think and concentrate.
The position is a full‑time position in Athletics. The Head Women’s Soccer coach reports directly to the Athletic Director.
WORK SCHEDULECoaches are required to work according to team schedules for practice, games, travel, and maintain normal office hours.
TRAVELTravel is required for games, recruiting and attending conference and other required meetings.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Teaching proper skills and skill development to student‑athletes.
- Design and implement strategies to student‑athletes and thus have a great deal of independent discretion and judgement as to the manner and method of teaching.
- Instruction of student‑athletes during practice and meets.
- Proper care and routine maintenance of equipment and uniforms.
- Securing team travel arrangements.
- Recruitment of student athletes which includes off‑campus contacts and evaluations as well as on‑campus visits and evaluations.
- Responsible for supervising graduate assistants and work‑study students.
- Teaching student‑athletes positive Christian life skills.
- Set vision and culture for the program.
- Delegate and manage duties to assistant coaches.
- Fundraising for the program.
- Any other duties assigned by the Athletic Director.
